DC SERIES FILTER DRIER WITH FLARE CONNECTION. (SAE)

DC SERIES FILTER DRIER ODF TYPE (SOLDER CONNECTION)

With the advent of HFC refrigerants and Polyolester lubricants it was utmost necessary to develop one filter drier performing all the task at hand i.e. filtration, moisture adsorption and acid removal which are in very high content because of lubricant hygroscopic and polar in nature. The DC series molded core filter drier was the answer which is a composite of carefully selected desiccant materials which are firmly and permanently bonded unlike loose fill filter driers that may break down and contaminate the system. Uniform grain size of Activated aluminum oxide and Molecular sieves desiccant are mixed in right proportion with a low content binder poured into a mould and oven baked at a specific temperature. This gives birth to a rugged constructed porous core. This filter drier uses the porous core as the filter pad which has a maximum contamination removal characteristic. This core has uniform porosity throughout the entire length and surface of the core. Activated alumina presence help in removal of acid and acid neutralizing and additional water retention capacity is obtained by using molecular sieves. In short it adsorbs moisture and acid before they interfere with the refrigeration system. DC Core Classic filter drier are used in liquid line refrigeration, freezing (ultra low temperature), air-conditioning system and for mobile refrigeration.

Design Feature

The unique desiccant blend and blending procedure in solid core used in DC Series Filter dries gives the following features:

1) Uniformly effective : Proper size and right percentage of desiccant granules making it a briquetted block which has excellent deep filtration capability and helps retaining moisture deep inside and through out the moulded core. Because of its unique design and high mechanical strength the desiccant core block contains a greater weight and porous surface area which gives double its capacity. Micronic filtration in depth will remove and retain particles as small as 10 microns which is most difficult to remove and at the same time without causing unacceptable high pressure drops.

2) Removes Dangerous Acid : The drier solid core have excellent acid removal capacity without lubricant additive stripping and attrition. The hydrochloric, hydrofluoric and various organic acids which are corrosive & harmful to equipment and system, are adsorbed and held on the desiccant and in double its capacity in comparison to other driers.

3) No Bypassing : The solid core is sealed to the drier shell wall at the outlet and maximum contact between two is assured which prevents any possible by-passing of refrigerant around the core. All the flow passes through the core for maximum contaminant removal. Large filtering surface available on the porous core increases its ability to collect large amount of dirt and in depth filtration. The porous core at the same time has the ability to retain moisture within the carefully sized and controlled granules.

4) High degree of activation present in the core insures maximum water capacity which means that the core removes a large amount of water in one pass thereby protecting the expansion valve from freeze up.

5) The composition of the solid core of DC Filter drier make it particularly suitable for drying refrigeration system that operate with high condensing temperature and in systems where filter drier must have a high drying capacity and high water adsorption. Quick reacting adsorption of water in the refrigeration system by the solid core minimizes the risk of acid formation.

6) Carefully selected blend of Molecular sieves and Activated Alumina in right percentage in the solid core block is approved for all CFC, HCFC and HFC refrigerant including R134a, 12, 22, 401, 402a/b/c, 404a, 407a/b/c/, 410a, 504, 507 etc and lubricant combination i.e. Mineral oils, Alkyllbengene (AB), Polyolester oil (POE) and Polyalkylenene (PAG).

7) Drier Body Shape : In DC Core Classic Series there are two deep draw higher gauge cups instead of one pipe and two end bottoms. These cups are welded together with mix, gas welding technology, for leak proof joint and better fusion which gives DC series filter drier high working pressure and high burst pressure strength which is applicable for high pressure refrigerant like. R-410A [ max. working pressure 42 bar (610 PSIG) ]. This process of welding also gives the drier a neat look and free from weld splatter.

8) Spring Cushioning at inlet end protects the solid block from rough handing and make it very high vibration resistance which eliminates the risk of dust formation caused by wear of the desiccant. Solid core are environment friendly and economical in use because of long operating life.

9) Furnace Brazing done to inlet and outlet connection with steel shells in atmospheric controlled furnace avoiding oxidization gives very bright effect to all components. This is the most strongest and reliable joining method known and gives very high pressure strength and again very much compatible with new refrigerants and lubricants.

10) All internal components i.e. springs, locking rings perforated baffles are plated steel for rust protection from harmful acids which are a common feature with these new gases.

11) Leak Testing : Three Stage leak testing done with dry N2. (a) Before assembling i.e. on furnace brazed inlet and outlet connection (b) After mix gas welding process on the shells (c) After painting.

12) Paint : Corrosion resistant oven baked paint done on rugged steel, shell after proper cleaning, treating and drying for high salt spray rating and can be used in all environment and adverse conditions.

13) SAE and Solid Copper Sweat fittings of pure copper available in standard sizes and in all the models. High brazing strength between the drier and fitting end in ODF range helps to stand flame temperature while fixing into the system (Please follow the brazing instruction.)

14) All SAE type DC driers are dry N2 gas charged which is higher than atmosphere pressure. This prevents moisture from entering the drier in storage and presence of pressure also confirms no leaks in particular piece at the time of fitting.

15) DC Series Driers are tested for 500 PSIG ( 35 bar) safe working pressure and burst pressure of 2500 PSIG.
